Key points for cost-reduction design using center hole utilization.
Basically, it is better to design with the assumption that "center hole is acceptable" in order to reduce the cost of parts manufacturing.
We will introduce the points of cost reduction design through the utilization of center holes. When the dimensional tolerances and geometric tolerances of the cylindrical outer diameter are strict and grinding finish is required, a chuck boss is necessary for setting on the cylindrical grinding machine. Additionally, this boss will need to be cut off after the cylindrical grinding is completed. By allowing center holes on both end faces, it becomes possible to set the workpiece on the cylindrical grinding machine using center support, eliminating the need for a chuck boss. This can lead to a cost reduction of approximately 20% through savings in material costs and labor hours. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*
